Antonio Berardi is a British fashion designer of Sicilian descent. He is known for his sensual, figure-hugging approach to tailoring, sophisticated style, flattering cuts, and advanced fabrics and manufacturing techniques. His designs are heavily influenced by music, independent films, postmodern art, Catholic symbolism, Italian art and culture, urban street style, lingerie, and the female form. After working as John Galliano's assistant while a student at Central Saint Martins, Berardi launched his eponymous label and quickly gained worldwide attention. For example, his trompe-l'œil corset black-and white dress with lace detailing, which was worn by Gwyneth Paltrow in November 2008 at the premiere of the film Two Lovers, was named "Dress of the Year" for 2009 by Harper's Bazaar magazine. He currently shows his collection at London fashion week, but has previously shown in Milan and Paris.
